Trails of Legends and Adventures

The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Visiting Mingo Falls and Horseback Riding Tours will get you outdoors. There's still lots to do: try your luck at Casino at Harrah’s Cherokee, steep yourself in history at Oconaluftee Indian Village, take in the exciting artwork at Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, and see the interesting displays at Museum of the Cherokee Indian.

To see traveler tips, maps, reviews, and more tourist information, you can read our Cherokee journey planner.

In July, daily temperatures in Cherokee can reach 83°F, while at night they dip to 62°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
