Furniture City

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Fulton Street Farmers Market. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Gerald R. Ford Museum and Meyer May House. Get out of town with these interesting Grand Rapids side-trips: Lansing (9-11-2001 Remembrance Memorial & Horrocks Farm Market), Kalamazoo Valley Museum (in Kalamazoo) and Air Zoo (in Portage). There's lots more to do: look and learn at Grand Rapids Public Museum, examine the collection at Gilmore Car Museum, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of Saint Andrew, and admire the natural beauty at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

In March, daily temperatures in Grand Rapids can reach 42°F, while at night they dip to 24°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
