Nestled on the north fork of Long Island within a pastoral landscape of farms and vineyards, Greenport is a historic village best known for its waterfront walkway with a 36-horse vintage carousel as its centerpiece.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Laurel Lake Vineyard and William Floyd Estate. Do some cultural sightseeing at Horton Point Lighthouse Nautical Museum and Waters Crest Winery. Venture out of the city with trips to Shelter Island Historical Society (in Shelter Island) and Woodside Orchards (in Aquebogue). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Fireboat Firefighter Museum, experience rural life at The East End Mushroom Company, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Congregation Tifereth Israel.

To see photos, maps, where to stay, and tourist information, go to the Greenport trip itinerary planner.

Expect a daytime high around 44°F in December, and nighttime lows around 34°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
