The heart of Pennsylvania's famous "Dutch Country," Lancaster is one of the nation's oldest inland cities, founded in 1730.
Do your shopping at Kitchen Kettle Village and Kissel Hill Fruit Farm. Visit The Amish Farm and House and Wheatland for their historical value. Take a break from Lancaster with a short trip to Wolf Sanctuary of PA in Lititz, about 34 minutes away. There's much more to do: hunt for treasures at Lancaster Central Market, contemplate the long history of Ephrata Cloister, get engrossed in the history at The Amish Village, and examine the collection at Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Washington DC to Lancaster is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or take a train. Traveling from Washington DC in June, expect Lancaster to be little chillier, temps between 81°F and 62°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Tue) so you can drive back home.
