Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll

The largest city on the Mississippi River, Memphis bills itself as both the "Birthplace of Rock" and "Home of the Blues." With such a rich musical heritage, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Elvis Presley chose to live in Memphis during his later years.
You've added Main Street Trolley, The Peanut Shoppe, Blues City Cafe, and other attractions to your itinerary. When in Memphis, make a side trip to see Horseshoe Tunica in Tunica, approximately Tunica away. There's much more to do: pause for some photo ops at National Civil Rights Museum - Lorraine Motel, see the interesting displays at Graceland, gain insight at Stax Museum of American Soul Music, and get engrossed in the history at Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum.

Birmingham to Memphis is an approximately 4-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or fly. In March, plan for daily highs up to 63°F, and evening lows to 43°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Sun) early enough to drive back home.
