Independence is the fifth-largest city in the state of Missouri. On the 1st (Fri), steep yourself in history at Harry S Truman National Historic Site, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Christ - Temple Lot, then steep yourself in history at Fort Osage, and finally identify plant and animal life at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area.

Kansas City to Independence is an approximately half hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. March in Independence sees daily highs of 57°F and lows of 37°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) early enough to travel to Hermann.
