North Conway — 2 nights

Step off the beaten path and head to White Mountain National Forest and Canterbury Shaker Village. Visiting West Rattlesnake Mountain and Crawford Notch State Park will get you outdoors. Change things up with a short trip to Bretton Woods Canopy Tour in Bretton Woods (about 44 minutes away). There's much more to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Sabbaday Falls, pause for some serene contemplation at The Little White Church, stop by Ravenwood Curio Shoppe, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Tuckerman Brewing Company.

For other places to visit, where to stay, traveler tips, and more tourist information, use the North Conway trip planning app.

Plymouth to North Conway is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also drive. When traveling from Plymouth in May, plan for slightly colder days in North Conway, with highs around 59°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 43°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) early enough to fly back home.

The Granite State
One of the country's smallest and least populous states, New Hampshire's wealth of recreational offerings make it a popular vacation destination. Its many pristine natural areas attract skiers, snowmobilers, hikers, and mountaineers from around the world. Named after a county in England, New Hampshire was the first of the North American colonies to establish a government independent of Great Britain's authority. Though New Hampshire's official nickname refers to its extensive granite formations and quarries, the state's license plates carry the motto "Live Free or Die," reflecting the sense of independence prized by the famously terse natives. Find out why America's artists continue to find inspiration in New Hampshire by taking a trip to its quaint villages and sightseeing in the area's old colonial towns.
