Sandusky

Sandusky positively bustles in the summertime due to its famed amusement park.
You'll get in some beach time at Lakeview Park and Maumee Bay State Park. Escape the urban bustle at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area and Osborn Recreation Area. Step out of Sandusky with an excursion to Brummer's Chocolates in Vermilion--about 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Castalia Quarry Reserve.

To find other places to visit, reviews, maps, and tourist information, you can read our Sandusky tour itinerary planning website.

South Bend to Sandusky is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or do a combination of bus and train. In April, daytime highs in Sandusky are 58°F, while nighttime lows are 40°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sun) so you can go by car back home.

The Buckeye State
Nicknamed the "Heart of It All" because of its heart-like shape, Ohio is perhaps best described as a mosaic of big cities and small towns, with vast tracts of farmland in between. Always a major industrial and political player in the country, the state was the home to eight American presidents and the Wright brothers, inventors of the airplane. The first man to walk on the Moon came from Ohio, as did 23 other astronauts. More than just an overachiever in science, industry, and politics, the state is also a serious holiday destination, featuring both traditional Amish farms and bustling cities with a great selection of things to do.
