The heart of Pennsylvania's famous "Dutch Country," Lancaster is one of the nation's oldest inland cities, founded in 1730.
Take a break from Lancaster with a short trip to Mount Hope Estate & Winery, home of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire in Manheim, about 36 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: get in on the family fun at Dutch Wonderland, stop by Kitchen Kettle Village, steep yourself in history at The Amish Farm and House, and see the interesting displays at Landis Valley Museum.

For reviews, traveler tips, other places to visit, and other tourist information, you can read our Lancaster trip itinerary maker site .

Philadelphia to Lancaster is an approximately 1.5-hour train ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Philadelphia in September, Lancaster is a bit cooler at night with lows of 57°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sun) early enough to take a train back home.
