Tannersville — 2 nights

The village of Tannersville, in Pocono Township, Pennsylvania, is the site of the popular Camelback Ski Area and Camelbeach Waterpark. Change things up with these side-trips from Tannersville: Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (in Delaware Water Gap) and Bushkill Falls (in Bushkill). Next up on the itinerary: cool off at Kalahari Waterparks, revel in the low prices at The Crossings Premium Outlets, stroll through Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center, and get in on the family fun at MagiQuest.

To find reviews, maps, photos, and more tourist information, read our Tannersville online route planner.

Newark to Tannersville is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of train and taxi. Traveling from Newark in April, things will get little chillier in Tannersville: highs are around 55°F and lows about 35°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Thu) so you can drive back home.

Taking up the better part of northeastern Pennsylvania, the Pocono Mountains Region contains more than 6,200 sq km (2,400 sq mi) of rolling mountains, waterfalls, lakes, forests, and streams. A year-round vacation getaway, the region once attracted mostly honeymooners. Today, the Poconos draw adventure-seekers from around the globe, arriving in throngs to explore one of the southernmost ski areas in the United States. Famous for its pristine nature teeming with native wildlife, the region is a quick car ride from New England or New York. The Pocono Mountains do not encompass any major cities--the wilderness area dotted with small towns and natural attractions makes this one of the least polluted portions of the region.
