Punxsutawney is a borough in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, United States, northeast of Pittsburgh.HistoryThe area was originally settled by the Lenape (Delaware Indians), and the name "Punxsutawney" derives from a Native name in Unami (a Lenape language): ', which translates to "town of the sandflies" or "town of the mosquitoes". You've now added Gobbler's Knob to your itinerary. Get a sense of the local culture at Deer Creek Winery and Laurel Mountain Vineyard. Escape the urban bustle at Cook Forest State Park and Powdermill Nature Reserve. Take a break from Punxsutawney with a short trip to Shaver's Creek Environmental Center in Petersburg, about 1h 30 min away. There's still lots to do: pause for some photo ops at Phil's Burrow.
