Rightly calling itself "America's Hometown," Plymouth holds a prominent place in the nation's history and culture as the site of the first Puritan colony.
Explore Plymouth's surroundings by going to New Bedford Whaling Museum (in New Bedford), Scituate Lighthouse (in Scituate) and Lizzie Borden House (in Fall River). There's lots more to do: take an in-depth tour of Plimoth Plantation, take in nature's colorful creations at Brewster Gardens, contemplate the long history of Mayflower II, and appreciate the history behind Plymouth Rock.

For photos, traveler tips, and more tourist information, you can read our Plymouth day trip planner .

New York City to Plymouth is an approximately 4.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and bus. Traveling from New York City in October, expect Plymouth to be little chillier, temps between 65°F and 46°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Sun) so you can go by car back home.
