Flower City

Springfield is the capital of Illinois, but its real significance is as the hometown of Abraham Lincoln.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lincoln Tomb & War Memorials, Old State Capitol, and other attractions you added. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Grand View Drive and Illinois State Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Peoria (Peoria Riverfront Museum & Peoria Zoo). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Dana-Thomas House, learn about winemaking at Walnut Street Winery, tour the pleasant surroundings at Lincoln Memorial Garden, and ponder the world of politics at Illinois State Capitol.

To find photos, reviews, other places to visit, and tourist information, refer to the Springfield trip maker.

Schaumburg to Springfield is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus, subway, and train. Traveling from Schaumburg in March, you will find days in Springfield are a bit warmer (51°F), and nights are about the same (31°F). Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) early enough to catch the flight back home.
