Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S.
Escape the urban bustle at Playa Mar Chiquita and Natural Reserve of Humacao. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Old San Juan and La Muralla. Step out of San Juan to go to Vega Baja and see Playa Vega Baja, which is approximately 48 minutes away. The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at Carolina Beach, delve into the lush surroundings at La Marquesa Forest Park, tour the pleasant surroundings at Condado Beach, and take a memorable tour with Tours.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Take a break from the city and head to Flamenco Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Do some cultural sightseeing at Culebrita Lighthouse and Museo Historico de Culebra. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Zoni Beach, step off the mainland to explore Culebra National Wildlife, and enjoy the sand and surf at Carlos Rosario Beach.

Getting from San Juan to Culebra by flight takes about 2 hours. Other options: do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of shuttle and ferry. A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Fri): take in the exciting artwork at Playa Oeste Gallery and then see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour. On the next day, visit a coastal fixture at El Faro Lighthouse, visit a coastal fixture at Punta Higuera Light House, and then stroll through Tres Palmas Marine Reserve.

Other options are to do a combination of ferry and car; or fly; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, shuttle, and car. In May, daily temperatures in Rincon can reach 88°F, while at night they dip to 80°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Ponce.

Ponce ©
Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Step out of the city life by going to La Guancha and Dona Juana Waterfall. Do some cultural sightseeing at Museo de Arte de Ponce and Museo Casa Armstrong Poventud. Change things up with these side-trips from Ponce: La Escalinata (in Yauco) and Casa Canales (in Jayuya). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Parque de Bombas, take an in-depth tour of Fundacion Biblioteca Rafael Hernandez Colon, and admire the striking features of Casa Wiechers-Villaronga.

You can drive from Rincon to Ponce in 1.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of car, flight, and shuttle. Traveling from Rincon in May, expect Ponce to be slightly colder, temps between 83°F and 74°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Wed) early enough to drive to El Yunque National Forest.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Caracas Beach and La Chiva. Get a sense of the local culture at Isabel Segunda and Serenity Point Yoga & Visionary Arts Space. There's much more to do: glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, kick back and relax at Black Sand Beach, stroll through Secret Beach (Pata Prieta), and take a leisurely stroll along Malecon.
