Monterey — 4 nights

Monterey is a city in the U.S. state of California, on the southern edge of Monterey Bay on California's Central Coast. We've included these beaches for you: Asilomar State Beach and Del Mar Beach. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Monterey Bay Food Tours and Wrath Tasting Room- Carmel. Change things up with a short trip to Capitola Beach in Capitola (about 46 minutes away). The adventure continues: stroll through Carmel River State Beach, kick back and relax at Lovers Point, and get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour.

New York City to Monterey is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Pacific Standard Time, which is usually a -3 hour difference. In December, Monterey is a bit warmer than New York City - with highs of 19°C and lows of 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Sat) early enough to go by car to San Francisco.

The quaint city of Healdsburg is one of northern California's wine capitals, serving as the meeting point for three of Sonoma's most important wine-producing regions.
Gracianna Winery and Gary Farrell Winery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get outdoors at Sonoma Coast State Beach and Armstrong Redwood State Reserve. Step out of Healdsburg to go to Calistoga and see Vincent Arroyo Winery, which is approximately 36 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: indulge your senses at some of the top wineries in the area, do a tasting at Sapphire Hill Winery, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
