Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.

Pike Place Market and LeMay - America's Car Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Chihuly Garden and Glass and Seattle Antiques Market. Explore Seattle's surroundings by going to Fort Worden State Park (in Port Townsend), Historic Downtown (in Snohomish) and Joemma Beach State Park (in Lakebay). Dedicate the 29th (Mon) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: admire the sheer force of Snoqualmie Falls, identify plant and animal life at Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, admire the natural beauty at Bloedel Reserve, and enjoy the sand and surf at Alki Beach.
