South Bend is a city in and the county seat of St. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Basilica of the Sacred Heart and Grotto of Our Lady Lourdes. Relax by the water at North Beach and Michigan City Beach. Get out of town with these interesting South Bend side-trips: Hickory Corners (Gilmore Car Museum & Midwest Miniatures Museum), Kalamazoo (Kalamazoo Valley Museum & Kalamazoo Institute of Arts) and The Pantry On Tap Oil and Vinegar (in Portage). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Mid-America Windmill Museum, take an in-depth tour of The History Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve, and look for all kinds of wild species at Sarett Nature Center.
