Monument Valley

The gateway to Utah's popular canyon country, Moab sits engulfed in the middle of desert wilderness.

Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): immerse yourself in nature at Fremont Indian State Park and Museum and then contemplate the long history of Cove Fort Historic Site. On your second day here, see the interesting displays at Territorial Statehouse State Park Museum and then witness a stunning natural landmark at Meadow Hot Spring.

Escalante

Escalante is a city in Garfield County, Utah, United States located along Utah Scenic Byway 12 (SR-12) in the south central part of the state. Escape the urban bustle at Scenic Byway 12 and Fairyland Loop Trail. Change things up with these side-trips from Escalante: Peek-A-Boo Loop (in Bryce Canyon National Park) and Capitol Reef National Park (in Capitol Reef National Park). Located just outside Zion National Park, Springdale's 600 residents welcome thousands of visitors a year to their tiny town.
Museum-lovers will appreciate David J West Gallery and Kanab Heritage House Museum. Get outdoors at Zion National Park and SunSoker Tours. Step out of Springdale with an excursion to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab--about 1 hour away. Drive from Escalante to Springdale in 3.5 hours. Traveling from Escalante in April, things will get a bit warmer in Springdale: highs are around 69°F and lows about 35°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Fri) early enough to fly to Salt Lake City.

Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Springdale in April: highs in Salt Lake City hover around 63°F, while lows dip to 42°F.
