Charlotte — 28 nights

The Queen City

A rapidly growing city in central North Carolina, Charlotte is the state's largest urban center and a major regional hub for finance, industry, technology, and entertainment.
Get some historical perspective at Old Salem Museums & Gardens and Kings Mountain National Military Park. For shopping fun, head to Southern Supreme Fruitcake or Seagrove Creations Pottery Gallery. Venture out of the city with trips to WoodMill Winery (in Vale), Burntshirt Vineyards (in Hendersonville) and Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park (in Chimney Rock). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at NASCAR Hall of Fame, do a tasting at JOLO Winery & Vineyards, take in the history at Cowpens National Battlefield, and admire the sheer force of Falls Park on the Reedy.

To see traveler tips, where to stay, reviews, and more tourist information, go to the Charlotte day trip planning website.
