A vast agricultural land with one of the largest cattle ranches in the United States, Waimea embraces its ranching roots.
You'll get in some beach time at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area and Mauna Kea Beach. Do your shopping at Waikoloa Beach Resort and Hawi Center: Hawaii Cigar & Ukulele. Vancouver, Canada to Waimea is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time (PST) to Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HST), which is usually a -2 hour difference. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Waimea when traveling from Vancouver in July, with lows around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Sat) early enough to drive to Captain Cook.

Drive from Waimea to Captain Cook in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Waimea in July, expect nights in Captain Cook to be warmer, around 28°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 35°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Hilo.

One of the island of Hawaii's major towns, Hilo contains a mix of Asian and Polynesian cultures and is known for its proximity to a national park encompassing two active volcanoes.

The Big Island
