The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Washington Monument has been added to your itinerary. Kids will enjoy National Air and Space Museum and National Zoological Park. Get a sense of the local culture at National Gallery of Art and Tomb of the Unknowns. There's still lots to do: learn more about the world around you at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, hunt for treasures at Eastern Market, and get lost in a book at Library of Congress.

In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Diamond Head Crater as well as Waikiki Shell. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Waikiki Beach and Kapiolani Regional Park. You'll explore and learn at Iolani Palace and Shangri La. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Honolulu: Sunset Beach Park (in Haleiwa) and Polynesian Cultural Center (in Laie). There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and examine the collection at USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park.
