The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Bring the kids along to National Air and Space Museum and Loch Raven Reservoir. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like National Gallery of Art and Washington National Cathedral. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Washington DC: The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring (in Sandy Spring), National Museum of the Marine Corps (in Triangle) and Old Rag Mountain Hike (in Shenandoah National Park). For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.
Attractions like Discovery Cove and Universal's Islands of Adventure make great kid-friendly stops. Have a day of magic on the 19th (Wed) at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Head to Fifth Avenue and Tiles For Americafor some retail therapy. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and American Museum of Natural History. Step out of New York City to go to Bronx and see Bronx Zoo, which is approximately 36 minutes away. There's much more to do: take in the pleasant sights at Central Park, make a trip to Empire State Building, steep yourself in history at Ellis Island, and examine the collection at New York Public Library.
