Houston

— 8 nights

Bayou City

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Let the collections at Space Center Houston and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston capture your imagination. The Strand and 1892 Bishop's Palace are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Houston: Galveston (Moody Mansion, The Seawall, &more), Pine Gully Park (in Seabrook) and Kemah Boardwalk (in Kemah). Next up on the itinerary: get curious at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, explore the engaging exhibits at Children's Museum Houston, tour the pleasant surroundings at Hermann Park, and pause for some serene contemplation at Lakewood Church.

For reviews, photos, where to stay, and more tourist information, refer to the Houston trip planner.

Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Get outdoors at Mount Evans and Photography Tours. Denver Botanic Gardens and Molly Brown House Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Explore Denver's surroundings by going to Georgetown (Georgetown Firefighting Museum & Guanella Pass), Rocky Mountain National Park (Many Parks Curve Overlook, Trail Ridge Road, &more) and Chapel on the Rock (in Allenspark). There's still lots to do: brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Stranahan's Whiskey Distillery & Cocktail Bar, relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, view the masterpieces at Images of Rocky Mountain National Park, and contemplate the long history of Denver Union Station.
