Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Step out of the city life by going to River Rafting & Tubing and Durango Fish Hatchery and Wildlife Museum. Explore Durango's surroundings by going to Valley Floor (in Telluride) and Million Dollar Highway (in Silverton). Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
Get in touch with nature at Maroon Bells and River Rafting & Tubing. Step out of Aspen to go to Glenwood Springs and see Hanging Lake Trail, which is approximately 1h 20 min away. On the 1st (Mon), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Aspen Mountain / Ajax.
