Scranton is the sixth-largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania behind Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie and Reading. Family-friendly places like Bushkill Falls and Lackawanna River Heritage Trail will thrill your kids. Do some cultural sightseeing at Asa Packer Mansion and Karl Stirner Arts Trail. Get out of town with these interesting Scranton side-trips: New Tripoli (Weathered Vineyards & Eight Oaks Farm Distillery), Nimble Hill Vineyard & Winery (in Tunkhannock) and Greek Peak Mountain Resort (in Virgil). Pack the 4th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Knoebels Amusement Resort. There's lots more to do: identify plant and animal life at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, admire the landmark architecture of Grey Towers National Historic Site, trek along Lake Scranton Walking Trail, and take in the dramatic scenery at Dingmans Falls.
