Step out of the city life by going to Cascade Falls Park and Ouray Box Canyon Waterfall. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Perimeter Trail and Box Canyon Waterfall & Park. There's lots more to do: admire the sheer force of Bear Creek Falls, hike along Baby Bath Tubs Trail, head outdoors with Imogene Pass, and contemplate the long history of Yankee Girl Mine.

Durango

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Take a break from the city and head to River Rafting & Tubing and San Juan National Forest. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Horseback Riding Tours and Petroglyph Point Hike. When in Durango, make a side trip to see Million Dollar Highway in Silverton, approximately 30 minutes away. There's still lots to do: hike along Animas River Trail, hit the slopes at Purgatory Resort, get a taste of the local shopping with Earthen Vessel Gallery, and explore the galleries of Durango Fish Hatchery and Wildlife Museum.
