Head to The Village at Grand Traverse Commons and Gallaghers Farm Marketfor some retail therapy. Visit Clinch Park and Lake Michigan Beach Park for some beach relaxation. Explore Traverse City's surroundings by going to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (in Empire) and Frankfort (Ellie Harold Art Studio & Gallery & Frankfort Beach). There's still lots to do: sample some tasty brews at a beer tour and tasting, do a tasting at Hawthorne Vineyards, view the masterpieces at Higher Art Gallery, and wander the streets of Front Street.

Newark to Traverse City is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Newark in June, with highs in Traverse City at 76°F and lows at 54°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 20th (Thu) early enough to travel to Mackinac Island.
