Head to Lotza Stuff and The Ruidoso Trading Postfor plenty of shopping. Get out of town with these interesting Ruidoso side-trips: Lincoln State Monument (in Lincoln) and Valley of Fires Recreation Area (in Carrizozo). Famed as the site of a purported UFO crash in 1947, the Roswell of today offers much more than alien research opportunities.
Head to Alien Zone Area 51 and Tokay Beaded Artfor some retail therapy. Museum-lovers will get to explore International UFO Museum and Research Center and Roswell Museum & Art Center. There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art, look for all kinds of wild species at Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, contemplate the long history of Historical Center for Southeast New Mexico, and do a tasting at Pecos Flavors Winery.
