In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Family-friendly places like USS Arizona Memorial and Waimea Bay will thrill your kids. Venture out of the city with trips to Kailua Beach Park (in Kailua), Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau State Monument (in Pupukea) and Sunset Beach Park (in Haleiwa). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Waikiki Beach, contemplate the waterfront views at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, tour the pleasant surroundings at Kapiolani Regional Park, and take in the pleasant sights at Diamond Head State Monument.

Sydney, Australia to Honolulu is an approximately 13.5-hour flight.
