Best known for its 1692 witch trials, Salem has a number of significant historical sites, a bustling downtown, and many witch-themed attractions.
Museum-lovers will get to explore The House of the Seven Gables and Maine Art Hill. Head to W. Robert Paine Gallery and Abacusfor plenty of shopping. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Salem: Massabesic Audubon Center (in Auburn), Portsmouth (Strawbery Banke Museum, Wentworth-Gardner House, & more) and Gloucester (Dolphin & Whale Watching & Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House).
