Best known for its 1692 witch trials, Salem has a number of significant historical sites, a bustling downtown, and many witch-themed attractions.
Get some cultural insight at Marginal Way Walkway and Peabody Essex Museum. The House of the Seven Gables and Abacus will appeal to museum buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Salem: Massabesic Audubon Center (in Auburn), Portsmouth (Strawbery Banke Museum, Wentworth-Gardner House, &more) and Gloucester (Dolphin & Whale Watching & Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House).
