Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Explore Seattle's surroundings by going to B&B Family Farm (in Sequim), Olympic National Park (Mount Ellinor & Murhut Falls) and Mt Si (in North Bend). Dedicate the 17th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's much more to do: take in the exciting artwork at Chihuly Garden and Glass, take a leisurely stroll along Hiram M. More than just one of the nation's top business centers, Columbus is a mixture of many different parts of America, situated at the spot where the so-called "Bible Belt" meets the varied cultures of the Great Plains and Appalachia.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Columbus: Logan (Whispering Cave Trail, Ash Cave, & more), Rockbridge (Zipline & Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve) and Hope Iron Furnace (in New Plymouth).
