Haleiwa is a North Shore community and census-designated place (CDP) in the Waialua District of the island of Oahu, City and County of Honolulu. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ko Olina Lagoons and Banzai Pipeline. Escape the urban bustle at Waimea Valley and Keawaula (Yokohama Beach). You'll find plenty of places to visit near Haleiwa: Polynesian Cultural Center (in Laie) and Waianae (Swim with Dolphins & Ka'ena Point State Park). There's still lots to do: meet some fierce fish with a shark diving experience and tour the pleasant surroundings at Ehukai Beach Park.

One of the island of Hawaii's major towns, Hilo contains a mix of Asian and Polynesian cultures and is known for its proximity to a national park encompassing two active volcanoes.
Get outdoors at Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden and Rainbow Falls. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Thurston Lava Tube (Nahuku) and Kilauea Iki Trailhead.
