In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Get in touch with nature at Lanikai Beach and Swim with Dolphins. You'll explore and learn at USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park and Iolani Palace. Get out of town with these interesting Honolulu side-trips: Byodo-In Temple (in Kaneohe), Polynesian Cultural Center (in Laie) and Haleiwa (Shark Diving & Sunset Beach Park). There's still lots to do: explore the different monuments and memorials at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, stroll through Kualoa Regional Park, contemplate the long history of Battleship Missouri Memorial, and contemplate the waterfront views at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve.
