Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
Get out of town with these interesting Los Angeles side-trips: Santa Monica Yacht Harbor Sign (in Santa Monica) and Anaheim (Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, &more). Pack the 17th (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Universal Studios Hollywood. There's still lots to do: take a leisurely stroll along Santa Monica Pier, kick back and relax at Santa Monica State Beach, immerse yourself in nature at Topanga State Park, and admire the masterpieces at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Nicknamed the "Entertainment Capital of the World," Las Vegas sits in the middle of a desert in the southern section of Nevada.
Change things up with these side-trips from Las Vegas: Valley of Fire State Park (in Overton), Henderson (Clark County Heritage Museum, M Resort Casino, &more) and Boulder City (Hoover Dam & Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum). While traveling from Los Angeles, expect much warmer days and somewhat warmer nights in Las Vegas, ranging from highs of 47°C to lows of 32°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
