San Luis Obispo, or SLO for short, is a city in the U.S. state of California, located roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast. Get outdoors at Morro Rock and Bob Jones City to Sea Bike Trail. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Montana de Oro State Park and Moonstone Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Mission San Miguel Arcangel (in San Miguel), San Simeon (Friends of the Elephant Seal Visitor Center and Gift Shop, Piedras Blancas, &more) and Cambria (The Old Santa Rosa Creek Chapel, Nitt Witt Ridge, &more). Monterey is a city in the U.S. state of California, on the southern edge of Monterey Bay on California's Central Coast. Visiting Dolphin & Whale Watching and 17-Mile Drive will get you outdoors. Mission San Juan Bautista and San Juan Bautista State Historic Park will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Monterey: Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve (in Moss Landing), Mission San Antonio de Padua (in Jolon) and Third Street (in San Juan Bautista).
