Lancaster — 38 nights

The heart of Pennsylvania's famous "Dutch Country," Lancaster is one of the nation's oldest inland cities, founded in 1730.Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Lancaster Central Market and Root's Country Market & Auction. Get out of town with these interesting Lancaster side-trips: Springton Manor Farm (in Glenmoore), Stockton Market (in Stockton) and West Chester (Stroud Preserve & Baldwin's Book Barn). Spend the 15th (Sun) exploring nature at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. There's still lots to do: find something for the whole family at Dutch Wonderland, contemplate the long history of President James Buchanan's Wheatland, deepen your knowledge of military history at U.S. Naval Academy, and experience rural life at The Amish Farm and House.
