Old Forge is a hamlet (and census-designated place) on New York State Route 28 in the town of Webb in Herkimer County, New York. Start off your visit on the 18th (Tue): cool off at Enchanted Forest Water Safari.

Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. Getting from Old Forge to Lake Placid by car takes about 2.5 hours. Traveling from Old Forge in August, expect slightly colder with lows of 49°F in Lake Placid. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Lake George.

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Kick off your visit on the 20th (Thu): explore the activities along Lake George, then learn about winemaking at Adirondack Winery, then get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and finally make a splash at The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor.
