Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. Family-friendly places like Mirror Lake and The Wild Center will thrill your kids. Step out of Lake Placid to go to Tupper Lake and see Raquette River Brewing, which is approximately 46 minutes away. There's much more to do: see where the action happens at Olympic Ski Jump Complex, enjoy some diversion at Lake Placid Olympic Museum, hit the slopes at Whiteface Mountain, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Jo.

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Mon): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Prospect Mountain, do a tasting at Adirondack Winery, then make a splash at The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor, and finally get engrossed in the history at The Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration.

Drive from Lake Placid to Lake George in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Lake George when traveling from Lake Placid in May, with lows around 47°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Mon) so you can go by car back home.
