Asheville — 3 nights

Land of the Sky

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.
For shopping fun, head to The Old Mill Candy Kitchen or Old Forge Plaza. Escape the urban bustle at River Rafting & Tubing and Mount LeConte. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Asheville: Gatlinburg (Sugarlands Distilling Company & Ole Smoky), Cucumber Gap Trail (in Great Smoky Mountains National Park) and Pigeon Forge (Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine & Goats on the Roof). It doesn't end there: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks and view the masterpieces at Woolworth Walk.

To see where to stay, traveler tips, maps, and other tourist information, use the Asheville trip itinerary planning website.

Expect a daytime high around 82°F in August, and nighttime lows around 64°F.
