Augusta — 3 nights

Augusta is the capital of the U.S. state of Maine and the county seat of Kennebec County. The city's population was 19,136 at the 2010 census, making it the third-smallest state capital (after Montpelier, Vermont and Pierre, South Dakota) and the ninth-largest city in Maine. Venture out of the city with trips to Skipjack Nautical Wares & Marine Art Gallery (in Portsmouth), Rockland Breakwater Light (in Rockland) and Boothbay Harbor (Cabbage Island, Boat Tours & Water Sports, &more). There's much more to do: learn more about the world around you at Maine State Museum, admire the majestic nature at Viles Arboretum, enjoy the sea views from Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, and take in nature's colorful creations at Capitol Park.
