Carmel

— 3 nights
Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Carmel River State Beach and Pfeiffer State Beach. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Carmel Mission and San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission. Venture out of the city with trips to Big Sur (Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park & McWay Falls). There's lots more to do: admire the majestic nature at Point Lobos, hike along Scenic Road Walkway, don't miss a visit to Pacific Grove Oceanview Boulevard, and kick back and relax at Asilomar State Beach.

For maps, ratings, and tourist information, you can read our Carmel trip maker website.

In May, plan for daily highs up to 65°F, and evening lows to 51°F.
