Davenport is the county seat of Scott County in Iowa and is the largest of the Quad Cities, a metropolitan area with a population estimate of 382,630 and a CSA population of 474,226, making it the 90th largest CSA in the nation. Get in touch with nature at Squaw Creek Park and Terry Trueblood Recreational Area. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Heritage Canyon and German American Heritage Center. Get out of town with these interesting Davenport side-trips: Murray Baker Bridge (in East Peoria), Old Capitol Museum (in Iowa City) and Wee Tee Golf Center (in Peoria). There's much more to do: examine the collection at The Old Blacksmith Shop, look for gifts at Chocolate Manor, steep yourself in history at De Immigrant Windmill, and hunt for treasures at Freight House Farmers Market.

For ratings, other places to visit, traveler tips, and tourist information, read our Davenport online trip itinerary builder .

Expect a daytime high around 83°F in August, and nighttime lows around 62°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
