Durango

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.

Ouray is a Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat and the most populous city of Ouray County, Colorado, United States. Start off your visit on the 14th (Tue): trek along Perimeter Trail, take a memorable tour with Tours, then take in the dramatic scenery at Bear Creek Falls, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Cascade Falls Park. Here are some ideas for day two: walk around Box Canyon Waterfall & Park, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, take an in-depth tour of Ridgway Visitors Center and Railroad Museum, then hike along Yankee Boy Basin, and finally steep yourself in history at Yankee Girl Mine.

Drive from Durango to Ouray in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of shuttle and taxi; or take a shuttle. Traveling from Durango in July, expect nights in Ouray to be about the same, around 52°F, while days are a bit cooler, around 74°F.
