Escondido reflects its Spanish and Mexican roots (it’s the oldest city in San Diego County) through historical architecture with short stucco buildings painted in pastel colors.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at San Diego Children's Discovery Museum and Riverside National Cemetery. Step out of the city life by going to San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and Batiquitos Lagoon. Explore Escondido's surroundings by going to Mission San Luis Rey (in Oceanside), Cardiff State Beach (in Encinitas) and Palomar Observatory (in Palomar Mountain). There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at San Clemente State Beach, learn about winemaking at BK Cellars Urban Winery & Tasting Lounge, and immerse yourself in nature at Palomar Mountain State Park.

To find reviews, maps, other places to visit, and more tourist information, you can read our Escondido tour itinerary website .

In July, daytime highs in Escondido are 75°F, while nighttime lows are 66°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
