Gatlinburg — 3 nights

Nestled in the lush, wooded forests of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg is Tennessee’s premier mountain resort destination.
Attractions like River Rafting & Tubing and Zipline make great kid-friendly stops. Take a break from Gatlinburg with a short trip to Raft Outdoor Adventures in Hartford, about 42 minutes away. There's lots more to do: get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, stroll through Roaring Fork, sample the fine beverages at Sugarlands Distilling Company, and take in the dramatic scenery at Laurel Falls.

Dayton to Gatlinburg is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. Expect a daytime high around 86°F in June, and nighttime lows around 66°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Pigeon Forge.

Pigeon Forge — 1 day

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Start off your visit on the 22nd (Wed): examine the collection at Titanic Museum Attraction, whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, and then get in on the family fun at Dollywood.
