Furniture City

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
Venture out of the city with trips to Nelis' Dutch Village (in Holland), Gilmore Car Museum (in Hickory Corners) and Soaring Eagle Casino (in Mount Pleasant). There's much more to do: examine the collection at Gerald R. Ford Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, admire the landmark architecture of Meyer May House, and have fun and explore at Grand Rapids Children's Museum.

To find ratings, where to stay, more things to do, and other tourist information, refer to the Grand Rapids day trip planning website.

In October, daytime highs in Grand Rapids are 63°F, while nighttime lows are 44°F.
