Textile Center of the World

The largest city in "upstate" South Carolina, Greenville has grown around the natural wonders of waterfalls located in the downtown area.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Sat): examine the collection at Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum and Baseball Library, grab your bike and head to GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, then stroll around Falls Park on the Reedy, then appreciate the history behind Joel Roberts Poinsett Statue, and finally sample the fine beverages at Dark Corner Distillery.

Gateway to the Black Hills

South Dakota's second-largest city, Rapid City has for many years served as a gateway to the West.
Explore Rapid City's surroundings by going to Keystone (Black Hills Helicopters & Mount Rushmore National Memorial), Custer (Sylvan Lake & Needles Eye Tunnel) and Badlands National Park (Badlands Wall & Loop Road). You can fly from Greenville to Rapid City in 7 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and subway. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference.
