Gulfport is the second largest city in Mississippi after the state capital, Jackson. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Shearwater Pottery and Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum. Let the collections at Walter Anderson Museum of Art and Lynn Meadows Discovery Center capture your imagination. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Gulfport: Abita Brewing Company (in Abita Springs), Gulf Islands National Seashore (in Ocean Springs) and Mobile (GulfQuest - National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico & History Museum of Mobile). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Front Beach, step off the mainland to explore Ship Island, make a trip to Hurricane Katrina Memorial, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Rose de Lima Catholic Church.

Expect a daytime high around 82°F in May, and nighttime lows around 66°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
