Houston — 3 nights

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Family-friendly places like Houston Zoo and Kemah Boardwalk will thrill your kids. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Houston: Galveston (Moody Gardens & The Seawall). And it doesn't end there: get curious at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, walk around Buffalo Bayou Park, test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, and stroll through Cockrell Butterfly Center.

Dallas to Houston is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 95°F, and evening lows to 77°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
