Houston — 3 nights

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Family-friendly places like Room Escape Games and Space Center Houston will thrill your kids. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Houston: Kemah Boardwalk (in Kemah) and Galveston (Moody Gardens & The Seawall). The adventure continues: get curious at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, walk around Buffalo Bayou Park, explore the galleries of Cockrell Butterfly Center, and get to know the resident critters at Houston Zoo.

Dallas to Houston is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In July, daily temperatures in Houston can reach 95°F, while at night they dip to 77°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
